How To qualify for
australia’s strongest title show
At each sanctioned state-level qualifier, the top two placing athletes in each official weight class are eligible for automatic qualification to Australia’s Strongest Man or Woman only if the following conditions are met:
Athlete must place 1st or 2nd, and has a full podium (3 or more athletes) in their respective weight class, they automatically qualify
If the weight class has fewer than 3 athletes (not a full podium), the Athlete must complete all events (no zeros). If they zero any event, they do not automatically qualify. Instead, they are awarded season points (see below) as if they had placed 3rd
This ensures automatic qualification is earned through both placing and full performance, particularly in small classes.
Note: Australia's Strongest reserves the right at our discretion, to combine the masters classes at title series shows If there is a significant lack of athletes to run a true show of competition at a national level.
Eg. Combining both women’s classes together to make one Masters Women’s class.
Points-Based Qualification (Placings 3rd to 7th+)
Athletes who do not qualify automatically may still earn an invitation through the season-long points system.
This includes:
Athletes who placed 3rd to 7th
1st or 2nd place athletes in a small class (fewer than 3 competitors) who zeroed an event
If you finish 3rd to 7th, you’ll earn qualification points as follows:
• 3rd – 5 points
• 4th – 4 points
• 5th – 3 points
• 6th – 2 points
• 7th – 1 point
Important Notes:
• If the athlete placed 1st or 2nd in a division with fewer than 3 athletes — in this case, they receive 3rd place points (5 points)
End-of-Season Qualification via Points
At the end of the qualifying season, the top 5 athletes in each weight class by total points (who have not already qualified automatically) will receive invitations to compete at Australia’s Strongest Man or Woman.
This rewards athletes who:
Consistently perform well across multiple qualifiers
Just missed auto-qualification
Grind out strong results even without podium finishes
Tie-Breaking System for Points-Based Qualification
If athletes are tied on total points, a count-back system will be used:
Most 1st place finishes
Then most 2nd place finishes
Then 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc., until the tie is broken
If still tied after full count-back, Australia’s Strongest may invite both athletes at their discretion.
Australia’s Strongest reserves the right to give and not to give invitations to the title series at the end of the qualifying season.
